Shweta Prasad aka Swetha Basu was born on October 10th 1991 in Jamshedpur, Jharkand and then moved to Mumbai. Shweta's mother is from West Bengal and her father is from Uttar Pradesh. Her father was into theater. The actress is studying Commerce from R.N Podar High School, Santa-Cruz, Mumbai.
At the age of 11, she started her film career with a Hindi movie Makdee (2002) in which she played the lead role as Chunni and Munni. She received the National Award for the Best Child Artiste for this movie. In Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal(2005) she played Khadija (Iqbal's sister) and also appeared in Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! (2005).
